SEA FORAGING TOUR OVERVIEW
On this four day tour, we’ll take scenic coastal walks, find some seaside treasures and sample some of Ireland’s most delicious shellfish. Starting in the heart of Dublin we will explore some of Ireland’s historic past and the Irish capital’s cobbled streets. For our picking experiences we will search for Irish shellfish and seashore plants along some beautiful coastlines. In the evenings we will enjoy the cosy atmosphere in some of Dublin’s best loved pubs and restaurants. On this tour we want you to get to know the friendly locals and enjoy the spirit of the pickers. On Day 1 you will arrive in the lively capital of Dublin. A flying picker representative will be available to meet you at Dublin Airport to be transported to your hotel for the evening. To kick off your picking adventure you will have time to mingle with the group with a creamy pint of Guinness at a local Dublin pub. Here you will receive your instructions for the first day and learn a little bit about the trip.
Awake early for breakfast on Day 2 where your local picking guide will meet you at the hotel. You will enjoy an afternoon of sea foraging near Dublin Bay where we will show you the best shell fish and seafood goods to be found along the Irish coastline. This evening you will experience a home cooked meal with the produce of the day. Relax in the hotel or explore the pubs of Temple Bar with all of it’s traditional Irish music sessions.
This part of your foraging experience will take you along the Bray coastline. Today you will experience one of Ireland’s beautiful cliff walks from Bray to Greystones. Along the way we will discover wild plants and vegetation. You have spectacular views of both the ocean and the Irish landscapes. After the walk we stop in the seaside town of Greystones for a bite to eat. In the evening we will enjoy a group experience at the Teeling Whiskey distillery, sampling some of Dublin’s newest whiskeys.
Today we make our way to the Howth peninsula where we will stop off at Dollymount Strand. After a stroll around the Bull Island nature reserve we stop into the local cafe for a well earned toastie. Continuing to Howth we will spend the afternoon walking the Howth cliff path. The views from Howth will leave you with lifelong memories of Ireland.
